As a black filmmaker, its infuriating to watch them try to throw a wet blanket over the fire that is "Sinners." And knowing how studios work, I know why. They don't want other black filmmakers to be emboldened enough to follow in Ryan's footsteps. His deal has the power to change the way the industry funds films, and opens a pathway to ownership. They need to dampen it, disparage it...and it makes me livid.

I've seen it twice so far & will be back to see it again before the week is out. This movie is deeper than just a vampire flick. It's art. Ryan Coogler Michael B. Jordan pulled off something beatifully complex with this film & nothing Hollywood says can change that. As much as they don't want to give those men their due...they have no choice. The public has spoken and we're supporting this film. period.

I saw it last night and plan to see it again at an IMAX theater. I love vampire movies and the acting was beyond superb. Plus, my place of birth, Mound Bayou, MS, got a shout out in the movie. I grew up 30 minutes from Clarksdale, MS.

There is a constant war on Black people. White Supremacy NEVER sleeps. It's a Demonic Force that likes to drink Black folks blood day and night. It don't rest. NEANDERTHAL DEMONS!

The movie is FUCKING AMAZING! I have to see it again!

The scene where the preacher's son is playing the guitar and breaking the time barrier is a cornucopia of sound, visuals and just a feast for the senses all around.

In all honesty, there comes a time where black people need to stop looking for flowers that will not come from the white majority. A good movie is attended and acknowledged by movie goers.

By the way, never saw and not interested in seeing Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and I dig Quentin Tarantino.

It was REALLY good, imho, but then I was a young woman when the Manson folks were around and I crossed paths with some of them, so it was relevant to me.

Are you talking about Once Upon a time? I appreciate the input, but when I've watched movies that didn't seem interesting, I found it was a waste of my time, so I'll sit that one out. Glad you enjoyed it.

Go see Sinners. It's awesome.

Yeah, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It was meaningful to me, but largely because of my own life experiences.

I'm heading to my offspring's house to go see Sinners in a week and a half. REALLY looking forward to it!! 😃

I am sad and disappointed that this continued media

crap about it was good but.... just because it was a "Black" movie. I have not been to any movie in the past years that was worth sitting through and they were all "white" movies... I look forward to seeing "Sinners."

When it comes to us it's never about the money. I don't care how many times they say, "The only color we care about is green." It's never about the cash when it comes to Blackness. It's about control. Movies, music, books, and whatever else. They're either going to ban our message, dilute our message or downplay the message.

It'll definitely make money. It's not gonna make Marvel money, but this is an R rated adult horror film. The important thing is he owns this film, and it'll pay in the long run by funding Coogler's production company giving him more freedom in the future. He's still a young man, and has a lot of years making movies ahead of him yet.

Now I’m pissed. I’m horror-movie averse. Big time. But I will see this movie. Not alone of course. 😊

I am dying to see it and I'm terribly frustrated that my local theater in this little rural town I live in isn't even planning to show it!!

I'm going to drive 2 hours to my daughter's house just outside of Seattle next week so I can go see it with them.

They've seen it at least twice, once on IMAX, and I refuse to miss the opportunity just because my stupid Wonder Bread town has to cater to the most moronic of our residents. >:(

Why are you here Matthew? You like and affirm white supremacist drivel on here. Why do you need to come here with your racist crap? You have the nerve to bring your fragile white ego and bitter white tears HERE? To tell someone to get a job? Fuck right off to the racist side of Substack.
